NYSEF Nordic Masters Program is Here!

The New York Ski Educational Foundation Nordic Program is excited to announce the creation of a Masters program for the 2007-2008 Winter Season. The purpose of this program is to continue to build on the greater community of Nordic skiing in the Adirondacks through structured technical support throughout the season.  The Program will run from late December through March.

Training sessions will include both Skate/Freestyle and Classic technique work from NYSEF Nordic coaches. All training sessions will be at Mt. Van Hoevenberg (see calendar).  The program is designed for both the novice cross-country skier and the experienced racer. It is the hope of the program that all enrolled NYSEF Nordic masters will attend and compete in the three weekends of NYSEF/ORDA events at Mt. Van Hoevenberg (see calendar).

Enrollment fee is $100 for the entire season or $15 per training session.  There is a $15 charge for race support at the Harry Eldridge ESG qualifier (1/12-1/13) and the Empire State Games races (2/23-2/24).

A Mt. Van Hoevenberg pass/ticket must be purchased and NYSEF enrollment paper work must be filled out prior to training.  To be eligible to race in the Empire State Games or the New York State Ski Racing Association Championships all skiers must be a member of NYSSRA. For NYSSRA membership, go to http://www.nyssranordic.com

For more information call the NYSEF Nordic Office at 518-523-1900

See you on the ski trails….

US Nordic Combined Team Update from Vuokatti, Finland.

We have completed 2 out of 3 competitions in Vuokatti, Finland and 5 out of
6 competitions in the first period. We have our last one for this
period tomorrow. The first competition yesterday was a mass start.
Eric Camerota skied strong and was in touch with the lead group in 5th
place going into the final 2.5km loop but couldn’t keep the pace up and
ended up 14th after the race. He had a pretty good jumping competition
and when all was said and done he ended up in 8th place. Bryan Fletcher
also skied strong finishing the race in 19th place. In the jumping
competition his last jump wasn’t his best and ended up in 27th.

Today we did a sprint competiton and again Eric was the best guy. He
jumped to 11th place and was looking to move up. He worked hard but in
the end only managed to 14th but was 11 seconds from 6th. He is really
close to getting a top result. We are looking forward to tomorrow.
Another highlight of the day was Alex Miller. He jumped to 15th place
and had a great race and ended up 24th overall.

That’s all for now.

Thanks for all the help and support.
