Update from Dave Jarrett: NC Head Coach
It was an historic weekend here in Lake Placid, New York. The US Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping National Championships were held in October. For the first time the National Championships were contested on plastic jumping and with a rollerski race to decide the winner. The 2009 US Nordic Combined champion is Johnny Spillane, second place was Billy Demong, and third place was Todd Lodwick. This was Johnny’s first career national championship victory. In the Ski Jumping competition, Anders Johnson was victorious followed by Johnny Spillane in second and Billy Demong in third. In the Women’s Class Lindsey Van was victorious and was followed by Jessica Jerome and Alissa Johnson.
On Sunday we competed in a SuperTour ski jumping event where Anders was again victorious. Eric Camerota had a great day on the hill and finished second followed by Nick Alexander in third. Check results here: http://skijumpeast.com/results/ussa-09/rslt09c.htm#training
Overall, it was a great weekend for competitions. The weather was great and we got a great crowd both days. Furthermore, it is great to see what Jochen has done with the Project X boys. They all have been posting very encouraging results in Europe and it will only help both sports raise the bar. Congrats boys.

This year the start was moved down to Santa’s Workshop, 1.5 miles below the Whiteface Toll House. Racers continued for 4.5 miles, finishing 3 miles up the Whiteface Toll Road. We could not finish at the Whiteface Castle due to a slick road with snow. Winter is on its’ way!
Thanks to all for a great event and to the Olympic Regional Development Authority for use of the road.

National Champions, Olympians and World Championship American athletes will come together in just under two months to compete for National Championship Crowns here in Lake Placid, NY. The showdown is October 11th….
Todd Lodwick (4x Olympian) has officially come out of retirment to compete in Nordic Combined again, how will he do against local boy Billy Demong (3x)? Johnny Spillane (3x), gold medalist from World Championships 03 is of course another contender. At 2:15 October 11th, check out the wildest, fastest and hardest rollerski race you will ever see at the Mackenzie Intervale Ski Jumps. Without a doubt its the steepest course made for only the toughest athletes. Who will survive?
It is also exciting to see how the Project X Ski Jumping Team will perform on game day. The team is stacked with Eastern superstars Chris Lamb, Nick Fairall, and Nick Alexander. Will they show top dog Anders Johnson (06′ Olympian) how it’s done? K90 action begins at 11am.
NYSEF Nordic coaching staff are preparing their athletes for top results right now. Will Casey Colby watch Andrew Fuzzy Bliss break into the top 5? Can Peter the FROG Frenette show the US again he is the Man? Can Alex Madden and Colin Delaney show the NC Devo boys it’s their turn for a position on the team? We hope so…
